Lake Cypress Springs is a 3400 acre spring-fed lake located in the piney woods of Franklin County. It is situated between the towns of Mt. Vernon, Winnsboro, Pittsburg, and Mt. Pleasant. Black Bass and catfish are the prime targets of visiting anglers. The waters of Lake Bob Sandlin back up to the dam on Cypress Creek. D Magazine calls Lake Cypress Springs the most beautiful lake in Texas (June 2000). Lake Cypress Springs is surrounded by 869 acres of public parks owned and maintained by the Franklin County Water District. A day-use fee of $2 per person is collected for all park users over the age of 13.
